Bulletin board open; and budget estimate of $15.8 million to set up national gas trading system

The Australia national gas Bulletin Board (BB) commenced operation on 1 July 2008. It was hoped Western Australia and the Northern Territory would join the Bulletin Board (and Short-Term Trading Market when it was established).

NSW Generators of little value unless they get compensation for loss of right to pollute from National Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS)

The NSW Treasury had recommended delaying the sale of any generator until National Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) details were known. if the Federal government meet its emissions trading policy deadline, the first generator transaction would proceed in 2009.

Queensland Gas Company Limited (QGC) and Sunshine Gas agree to merge and enable BG Gladstone LNG plans, and more power stations

On 20 August 2008 Sunshine Gas agreed to takeover value near $830 million; Queensland Gas Company  aimed  - in its offer to Sunshine to gain gas reserves to enable a Gladstoine LNG plant. It aimed for a 7,000 PJ of 2P reserves to trigger the BG Gladstone LNG plant.  The QGC takeover had set out to get the Sunshine gas Lacerta CSG project near Roma (ATP 767P / 795P). Electricity and gas demand changes in proposed Victoria public holiday Bill

The Victorian Public Holidays Amendment Bill 2008 does two things; first, requires country councils to harmonise public holidays, and second, creates automatic additional public holidays as additional and substitute days for certain public holidays when they fall on a weekend. This will change energy demand pattems.

Victoria prepares to repeal gas laws and Gas and Fuel Corporation Act: but opposition calls for $6m subsidy for Envestra compressors in Mildura, first

The Brumby government had failed country Victorians by not rolling out natural gas to keep them warm during the winter, argued the Victorian Opposition, speaking to the Legislation Reform (Repeals No. 3) Bill. The purpose of this bill was to repeal 83 acts in all, many relating to gas. A number of acts dealt with gas, including the Gas and Fuel Corporation Act.
