Tender: Saving Our Species, New South Wales, closes 26/03/2018 10:00 a.m. NSW ...

OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENT & HERITAGE. SAVING OUR SPECIES -ADDRESSING PRIORITY KNOWLEDGE GAPS FOR DATA-DEFICIENT SPECIES.
Tender: 1474 .
Closes 26 March 2018 at 10:00am.
Tender Details: The Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) seeks to engage a contractor to undertake surveys and/or research, as required, to address priority knowledge gaps currently impeding effective management of particular threatened species.
Under the Saving our Species (SoS) program, each species listed on the schedules of the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016 (BC Act) is allocated to one of six management streams according to their ecological and management requirements. Species are allocated to the data-deficient management stream if there is currently insufficient data or knowledge available on their distribution, ecology, threats or management requirements to inform effective management. The ultimate objective of investment in any data-deficient species is to generate sufficient useful data, such that it may be re-allocated to another stream (e.g. site-managed) and have a detailed conservation project developed that specifies the sites and management actions required to secure the species from extinction in NSW in the long-term. Priority research and/or survey actions have been developed for every data-deficient species, and are designed to address the most critical knowledge gaps currently impeding management.
Since the inception of SoS there has been significant investment in data-deficient species by OEH and its partners, including a number of ongoing projects. There are a number of data-deficient species, however, that due to limited resources, capacity and/or expertise, have yet to be addressed under SoS. This Request for Quotation seeks the provision of targeted data collection, collation and reporting to address priority knowledge gaps for a set of identified data-deficient species (see Attachment A).
